2007 Season - Sonny Dorhmund & After Burner Team

Valparaiso, IN - July 26

The After Burner Team was invited to an exhibition show along with the monster truck show. After the monsters raced, Sonny in the After Burner along with three other stadium trucks did some exciting racing as well as a freestyle exhibition including wheelies and four wheel donuts. The crowd was amazed.

Special Events Four Wheel Jamboree, Essex Junction, VT - August 4-5

Sonny went into the event first in points, the After Burner Team wanted to stay on top, unfortunately Sonny got caught in some loose sand and that was all it took to end up with fourth place for the event. Sonny got pushed to second place for the Series points.

Linn County Fair, Mound City, KS - Aug. 17 

The After Burner Team went into the event as the 2006 winner, with all the competitors determined to take the win, Sonny qualified first. The Chicago Style venue enabled Sonny to pick off win by win down to the finals to be paired up with good friend Jim Hopkins. The competition was intense between Sonny and Jim putting everything on the line, Sonny took the win, which makes two years in a row.

The Promotor ask us to do a Freestyle exhibition after racing was done, Sonny and Jim did a Freestyle Show like no other, they did it together at the same time. WOW, the crowd went wild standing on their feet as Sonny went over one of the jumps backwards sending the After Burner completely vertical. The Promotor said is was the best show he has seen.

Special Events 4 Wheel Jamboree, Indianapolis, IN – Sept. 21-23 

As the Mickey Thompson Tough Truck Series comes to an end, Sonny was only 40 points away from first place the pressure was on for all the competitors. The tight half dirt, half asphalt track  proved to be extremely challenging for everyone. After the qualifying runs, Sonny took fifth place.

Sonny and the After Burner Team conquered second place in the 2007 points series, with four wins out of the seven events for the season.The crew from Xtreme 4X4 interviewed Sonny for several hours through the weekend. The film crew installed two onboard cameras on the After Burner, one in the cab and the other as a suspension cam. The episode will air sometime in 2008.

Sparta, KY - Oct 13

The Major League of Monster Trucks ( MLMT ), invited the After Burner Team to attend their new racing series referring to our stadium trucks as Thunder Trucks to race with eleven other top notch competitors. The tracks had several massive jumps making it a true test on drivers and trucks. The night proved to be very exciting as some competitors broke. Sonny in the After Burner went on to take second place at the awesome Nascar track in Sparta. This new series will undoubtedly attract TV coverage with the enthusiasm of the fans and participation of sponsors to build this successful program to its even greater potential.

Nashville, TN - Oct 27

The After Burner grabs another second place in the MLMT Thunder Truck Series at the Nashville Super Speedway. MLMT invited sixteen of the nations best to compete. The competitors all ran hard throughout the night, Sonny took second place only hundredths of a second behind first. MLMT plans to feature the events at eighteen Nascar Sanctioned Tracks. Final confirmation of the schedule and details will be released mid December. This new series is going to explode with all of the thousands of car and truck racing fans
